The Nissan Motor Company Ltd. is a Japanese multinational automobile company established in 1933 with its headquarter at Nishi-Ku, Yokohama, Japan. "Through working abroad with MISTI, I gained a more comfortable familiarity with Japanese that I wouldn’t have gained at MIT or in the US. Because of the limitations of this field, I likely would not have been able to work in fuel cells had I stayed in the US, at least not at a company. This is particularly true at an automotive company in the US."

My project involved working with a polymer electrolyte fuel cell to determine the effects on performance under certain operational conditions. To this effect, I was involved in planning the experimental order, developing data extraction macros on Excel, and analyzing data obtained from trials within the broader scope of the experiment. With the Excel macros, prior knowledge of coding and Google were most helpful. With the analysis and planning, it was primarily based on articles provided before or soon after arriving at Nissan. Some knowledge of electrochemistry from my prior lab experience has been helpful, but for the most part is unrelated to the work I did.
